Federal DOL Brings Several Cases Against Employers

The Federal DOL (Department of Labor) brings several cases against employers. As CALPASC members know, we are subject to jurisdiction both by the Federal DOL, and the state of California DLSE(Division of Labor Standards Enforcement), also known as the Labor Commissioner's office. We want to alert our members to the following two cases by DOL.
  1. DOL secures a consent judgment of $3 Million against a Phoenix, AZ drywall contractor and its owner, as an individual; for piece rate pay overtime violations! The contractor paid over 1,000 employees a piece rate, without the additional time and a half overtime compensation. You can click here for the Press Release.
  2. San Jose manufacturer pays $41,214 in back pay for violations of the FFCRA (Families First Coronavirus Response Act). CALPASC members should review the Press Release to avoid being in violation. You can click here for a copy of Release.
