Key Legislative Updates!
CALPASC's contract lobbyist RJ Cervantes and the CALPASC Government Affairs Committee has been very involved in California legislation this year.

CAPASC has supported 12 bills, 6 of those have been passed by the legislature, 6 are continuing in 2020.
We already reported on SB 778, which extended the deadline for non-supervisory sexual harassment training until January 1, 2021.

AB 25 would make an exception for employee information from California's sweeping Consumer Privacy Act taking effect January 1, 2020. This bill is on its way to the Governor's desk, and it is expected he will sign it.
CALPASC has opposed 21 bills. Six of those have been amended, removing our opposition. Four have died or stalled in the legislature for this year. 11 are still alive, and are awaiting the Governor's action.

A key bill that was defeated is AB 1066. This bill would have allowed striking employees to receive unemployment insurance 3 weeks after beginning the strike!
We are hoping the Governor will veto several of the bills still pending. He has until October 13, to do so.

CALPASC has scheduled our annual "New Laws Webinar" on Tuesday, October 29, 2019; at 11:30 am. We will review all new bills passed that affect CALPASC members. CALPASC members can sign up here for the webinar by clicking here.
