State and Local Agencies Have Been Developing Significant Enforcement Actions!

1. Cal/OSHA cites framing contractor $26,540 for failure to properly stack plywood sheets on the job site, which resulted in a fatal accident for one of their employees.Click here to see the press release.

2. Cal/OSHA cites Benicia contractor $27,000 for failure to evaluate Valley Fever exposures for a project in the California Central Valley. Two employees contracted Valley Fever after digging trenches. Click here to see the press release.

3. CA Labor Commissioner secures $1 Million unpaid wage settlement from San Jose restaurant chain. The settlement is secured by the company owner's property assets! Employers in California can be subject to personal assets being used to pay labor law claims. Click here to see the press release.

4. Sacramento neurosurgeon Dr. Laura Anderson is charged with $500,000 in medical and WC fraud. She billed State Compensation for services never rendered, and illegally up-coded actual services. This prosecution is through the Northern Impact WC Insurance Fraud Task Force. The Task Force is a combined use of resources of five Northern California District attorneys, who are funded by employer's WC surcharges. Click here to see the press release.
