CALPASC Director of Risk Management Bruce Wick attended the Review Panel of the Fraud Assessment Commission in Sacramento on June 6, 2018
This panel reviewed the proposals from District Attorneys across California for Fraud Assessment Commission grants for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. The total requested was $45 Million, and the panel had to recommend how to split up the $39.6 Million available. The District Attorneys are reviewed based on a variety of criteria including restitution collected, felony investigations, total prosecutions, and total amount of fraud charged.
Bruce spoke during the public comment session and reminded the District Attorneys that while provider fraud cases were the biggest in dollar amounts, the employee fraud cases are extremely important to investigate, due to the potentially fraudulent claim impacting that employers experience modification and loss history.
