WCIRB Classification And Rating Committee Update

The committee met on April 25, 2017, in Oakland. A proposal Bruce Wick of CALPASC has been in support of was presented, to limit the first $250 of every workers' compensation claims from being charged toward an employer's Ex-Mod. This would take many first aid claims out of the calculation, as any claim below $250 would show zero towards the Ex-Mod; and any claim above $250 would subtract $250 from its total.


The proposal was approved by the Committee, and Bruce Wick of CALPASC will be voting on it at the Governing Committee meeting in Oakland on June 14, 2017. The effective date of the change would be for an employer's anniversary date rating in 2019. You can see the proposal; it is on page 268 of the Governing Committee Agenda: Click Here
