Update On AB 199: Prevailing Wages On Certain Residential Projects

This bill continues through the legislative process. It is currently in the Senate Rules Committee, waiting for committee assignment. As you know, a compromise was agreed upon allowing for prevailing wages to be paid on residential projects where the agreement is with a city or county, but only where that entity is the successor to a redevelopment agency. This is a very helpful compromise, but leaves the subcontractor in the place of not knowing what due diligence has taken place on which projects are truly the successor projects. CALPASC members are encouraged to review the educational documents provided by member attorney Kyle Kring of Kring & Chung; and consult with your counsel or Kyle regarding implementing these protections into your future contracts.
