Fed/OSHA Increases Penalties for Citations Effective August 1, 2016; But not Cal/OSHA

These changes only apply to Federal OSHA covered projects, not Cal/OSHA. New citations issued after August 1, 2016, for violations which occurred after November 2, 2015 will be under the new penalty structure. 


The maximum penalty for serious violations increases from $7,000 to $12,471. The maximum penalty for willful or repeated violations will increase from $70,000 to $124,709. The increased factors are due to an inflation multiplier since 1990, the last time the penalties were revised. You can link to information by CLICKING HERE
