Come join us for an informational webinar to prepare yourself for the new California bills taking effect January 1, 2018

 

Many new bills have been passed by the Legislature, and signed recently by the Governor.

CALPASC members will need to modify their business practices in several areas due to these new bills, to protect themselves and we are looking to provide information on how to make these changes.

The list of bills are:

 

  1. AB 450-Chiu-D. Requires several actions from employers if any of their employees are being investigated by ICE.
  2. AB 1701-Thurmond-D. Expands the liability for Contractors of unpaid wages and benefits of their Subcontractors.
  3. AB 199-Chu-D. Requires the payment of Prevailing Wages on certain affordable housing projects.
  4. SB 63-Jackson-D. Expands the number of employers subject to providing unpaid parental leave.
  5. AB 168-Eggman-D. Limits information that prospective employees give to employers, and requires employers to provide pay scale for positions.
  6. AB 1008-McCarty-D. Revises requirements for employers regarding criminal history of prospective employees.
  7. AB 1278-Low-D. Allows CSLB to suspend certain qualifiers licenses, for unsatisfied judgments.
  8. AB 1223-Caballero-D. Adds requirements for state agencies to post payment information on public projects.
  9. SB 189-Bradford-D. Revises the qualifications for who can be excluded by an employer under a WC policy.
  10. SB 486-Monning-D. Allows CSLB to issue a letter of admonishment for contractors who violate the Business and Professions Code.
  11. AB 262-Bonta-D. Installs the Buy Clean California Act on any UC and state public works projects, for certain construction products.
  12. AB 618-Low-D. Revises community college district construction contracting provisions.
  13. SB 418-Hernandez-D.; and AB 1424-Levine-D. These bills affect the requirements for providing  percentages of journeyman and apprentices on public works projects.
  14. SB 306-Hertzberg-D. Gives the Labor Commissioner more authority to protect employee whistleblowers.
